Have you posted any trail-cams around your property? We've been amazed at the animals we've seen. We even captured two cougars hunting together one evening. I didn't know they did that!
We have thought about it, but haven't done so yet. I imagine we would see some pretty impressive coyote activity. We know they're here as we've seen their scat, and regularly hear them.
We have several on our property and get some nice surprises. I'll have to post some pics on the blog. We've seen coyotes with their kill (a rabbit and a chicken - thankfully not ours!). Bear, skunk, turkeys, many deer, cougars and birds in flight. We don't have a live feed or anything - just memory cards that we check occasionally. You might be surprised how many neighbors you have!
Wow ! What a great opportunity you discovered to identify the wildlife on your property ! & finding out you have an endangered species or two ! I would love to do this on my land. Amazing.
Thanks, Cynthia. We were actually aware of the nighthawks, and several other endangered species here (such as Lady slippers and snapping turtles) before the researchers showed up. You should contact the Mersey Institute. They'll happily come out to evaluate your woodlot.
Beautiful! I've never seen a nighthawk, how fortunate you are in this richness.
